As broad and full featured as ERPs generally are known to be, ERPs are not purpose built to address every business need; that’s where integrations come into play.  Interconnecting your ERP with your other select applications is imperative to assuring the accurate and timely transmittal of information flows across your business.  Having disconnects, data fidelity issues, or ‘swivel chairing’ quickly undermines not only the efficiency of your business operations but also opens up an opportunity for gaps in your data.

The KALM team started where you are…within our own companies, managing within an existing application and process ecosystem.  We know the criticality of the need, the level fo resistance to change of the people, and the practical challenges of getting multiple applications to ‘play nice’ and work with one another.  From this we know that a good outcome starts with understanding the desired outcome.  Understanding ‘why’ each application is needed and what role each play is step 1.  From there we look to understand what data each works with and how.  This foundational understanding precedes any technical solution.  Why?  The right technical interplay between the applications may vary based on how, when, how much data needs to be exchanged and the role you look to each application to play.  Whether it is an expense reporting application, a manufacturing execution system, or perhaps a customer relationship management system, we start – as we always do – with the optimal end in mind. 

When we do pivot to a technical solution, we assess what integrations may be already available for the applications.  Pre-designed and tested solutions provide faster paths and ones that have been tested.  This reduces the technical development time, and the general testing required allowing us to focus on your data and user testing.  Depending upon the applications, marketplace integration may not be available.  In these cases, we will build an integration that works with both (or the multiple) applications.  Taking into account the process, we will consider as we build the frequency of changes or updates that may be needed so we can make the integration as self-sustaining as possible.  We will complete the integration with a thorough testing protocol.  This gives us the confidence to deliver the solution to you and you the confidence to know that your ecosystem is functioning in step with your ERP.
